Keeping Childcare Affordable

Kids Co. recognizes that the cost of childcare can be a burden for some families, one that sometimes forces them to forego it altogether. When this happens, everyone loses: the children, their families, and entire communities, because the development and safety of these children becomes fragile in ways that impact the vitality and health of neighborhoods.

Keeping quality-childcare within reach of all families is a core Kids Co. value, and we work to provide options that enable families to secure the care they need for their children.

If you would like help paying for childcare:

1. APPLY FOR PUBLIC SUPPORT

Kids Co. requires that families apply for State of Washington (DSHS) or the City of Seattle Child Care Assistance Program (HSD) support prior to applying for Kids Co. private support.

To obtain information about income and eligibility:

• State of Washington (DSHS) childcare subsidy, visit the DSHS website
• City of Seattle Child Care Assistance Program , visit the HSD website

2. APPLY FOR PRIVATE SUPPORT

Kids Co. maintains two tuition assistance programs, funded in part through private donations.

• Kids Co. Schedule B (award decisions are based on income only). Please see the Schedule B Income Guidelines for current income limits. Schedule B is for families whose income is above the limits for DSHS and City of Seattle subsidy programs and is a 15% discount. To apply complete the Schedule B Applicationand return to your center director.

• Kids Co. Special Case (award decisions are by individual review on a case by case basis). Kids Co. offers special support to families who have unique and individual circumstances who may or may not qualify for DSHS or City of Seattle assistance. Our Special Case Subsidy program requires an Application be completed and returned to the center director with all required financial documentation and a description of the situation. Special Case subsidy awards vary and are subject to availability.
