Kids Co. at Adams Elementary is a unique child care center that offers programs for children ages 2½ to 12 years-old. For children 2½ through 5 years-old, we offer a preschool program with two different time slots available. For children in Kindergarten through fifth grade, we offer care before- and after-school, and full-day programming during school-year breaks and summer vacation.
PRESCHOOL PROGRAM (7:00 AM TO 6:00 PM)
Within our preschool program, we strive to get to know each child's individual needs and unique strengths in order to provide a program that challenges the individual while keeping the group motivated to learn.
Our day includes a variety of individual activities, small-group explorations, and large-group gatherings. Social, life-readiness, and pre-academic skill-building opportunities are woven throughout the day. As children learn through play and direct hands-on experiences, they develop skills that will help them succeed academically and socially in school.
It is important for our preschoolers to participate in outings and projects that expand their world. We schedule outings in our community on a regular basis. We also participate in group activities with classes from Adams Elementary. Notably, cooking is an important part of our program because it lends itself so well to building life, social, and pre-academic skills.
BEFORE-SCHOOL PROGRAM (7:00 TO 9:00 AM)
Our school-age program for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade provides opportunities to socialize before school and gear-up for the day ahead. The kids can have breakfast with their friends, play board and card games, try out several computer programs, listen to music CD's, participate in an art or craft activity, read stories, or just be with their buddies.
At 8:30, (weather permitting) the school-agers head outside for school and Kids Co. supervised playground time. At 9:00 they line up, by class, for school. Children bused to other local elementary schools are escorted to their morning bus stops.
AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM (3:00 to 6:00 PM)
Our afternoon program provides the school-agers with a variety of post-school opportunities. A typical afternoon may include Homework Club, cooking, art, crafts, gym and/or outdoor time.
Homework Club is an optional activity Monday through Thursday. It provides for small group time for completing school assignments with support from the center staff. Participation is set up between families and staff at the beginning of the school year or upon enrollment.
Cooking, art, or craft experiences are provided daily. We feel it is paramount for school-agers to participate in creative, thoughtful challenges. Our staff works hard to create fun activities that engage busy minds yet contrast with the structure and focus of the school day.
