The principle goal of Kids Co. at Graham Hill Elementary is to provide a safe, well-supervised, clean and caring environment for your child. Kids Co. offers opportunities for planned and free-play activities designed to promote the cognitive, social and emotional development of children.
Your child will have opportunities to participate in group activities as well as a chance to do things on her own. Activities are planned to include each child's cultural and individual needs. Teachers post lesson plans on the bulletin board each week.
Kids Co. offers individual programming in a child care setting that is designed specifically to serve preschool and school-age children. We have two separate classrooms to best serve the needs of each child. We offer a full and half-day preschool program. For school-age children, we have programming before-and after-school, during school-year breaks, and summer camp.
Both programs are built around age-appropriate curriculum and activities, are child-focused, with the individual needs of our children being paramount.
We encourage daily communication between staff and parents. Staff are always available for consultations as needed. We encourage parents to observe and volunteer within the program whenever possible and appropriate.
PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
Offered to children ages 2½. We strive to get to know each child's individual needs and unique strengths in order to provide a program that challenges the individual while keeping the group motivated to learn.
Our goals are to offer child-centered and teacher-supported activities that promote social, cognitive, physical and emotional development. Activities include:
- creative play
- drama and dress-up
- cooking
- writing and language development
- math and reading activities
- art
- sensory and science experiences
- fine and gross motor activities
- individual, small and large group activity times.
SCHOOL-AGE PROGRAM
The school-age program offers a variety of choices for Kindergarten through 5th graders which include:
- art experiences
- science activities
- sports and recreation
- cooking and nutrition
- Homework Club
- tutoring
- drama
- games and much more.
Our daily schedule allows for spontaneity and the ability to meet the varying individual needs of your child. All children are especially encouraged to develop self-help skills and appropriate social skills. Our staff works hard at creating activities that engage busy minds yet contrast with the structure and focus of the school day. Children are encouraged to develop their own ideas and values and to express their views.
